Three DB12 S One-Offs Revive Aston’s VMF Le Mans DB2s
Q by Aston Martin built a trio of Carbon Black grand tourers for Pebble Beach's 75th anniversary at Monterey Car Week.
Aston Martin's personalisation division, Q by Aston Martin, brought three one-off DB12 S grand tourers to Monterey Car Week to mark the 75th anniversary of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Their inspiration is the team of DB2s that Aston Martin raced at Le Mans in the early 1950s, cars identified by their VMF registrations and individually coloured grilles.
All three wear Carbon Black bodywork with registration-style identities. VMF 63 is accented in Rosso Red, VMF 64 in Speed Yellow and VMF 65 in Ellwood Blue, with matching highlights on the carbon side strakes. Each carries 75 graphics on the wings and Aeroblade spoiler, and a DB2 silhouette appears beneath the spoiler and in the seat embroidery. Contrast stitching, 75 motifs on the rear seats and sill plates, and colour-matched start button and paddle tips complete the theme.
Mechanically they follow the DB12 S, which uses a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 700 PS, a revised eight-speed gearbox, standard carbon-ceramic brakes and firmer chassis settings.
Aston Martin has not said whether the trio will be sold. Monterey also hosted the public debut of the 50-unit Vanquish 25 Edition, which celebrates a quarter century since the original V12 Vanquish.
