McLaren Confirms the 750S Will Bow Out in 2027
Final orders are now being taken for McLaren's V8 supercar before a hybrid V6 successor replaces it and the Artura.
McLaren has confirmed that production of the 750S will end in 2027, and the company is now taking final orders. The car's lineage goes back to the 720S, unveiled at the 2017 Geneva show as the successor to the 650S, which means the underlying design is approaching a decade old.
The 750S kept most of the 720S's shape while gaining an upgraded 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 and shedding 30 kg. Its competitive set has moved on, however, with hybrid rivals such as the Lamborghini Temerario and Ferrari 296 GTB offering significantly more power, a gap that Carscoops suggests helps explain the timing.
The last word for this platform is the 788HS revealed in July. Limited to 200 cars, it produces 777 hp and 800 Nm and adds visual and aerodynamic upgrades over the standard 750S.
What comes next is a model known internally as P34, which is expected to replace both the 750S and the Artura, with the Artura due to end in 2028. It is expected to use a new twin-turbocharged hybrid V6 with more power and torque than the 750S, though likely more weight too. Anyone wanting one of the last pure V8 McLarens should speak to their dealer soon.
