Mercedes-AMG has revealed the GT SUV, an all-electric performance SUV that the company describes as its first full-size SUV developed entirely in-house. It is the second model on the AMG.EA electric architecture and shares its motors and battery with the electric GT 4-Door Coupe.

Three versions are planned for the US. The flagship GT 63 uses three axial-flux motors for a peak 1,153 hp and 1,475 lb-ft, with an estimated 0-60 mph time of 2.6 seconds and a 168 mph limited top speed. The GT 55 uses the same layout at 805 hp, while the GT 53 uses two conventional motors and 536 hp. The bigger 128 kWh, 800-volt battery accepts up to 710 kW, charging from 10 to 80 percent in 12 minutes, with WLTP range of 620 to 700 km.

Rear-axle steering is standard, and the GT 63 adds an active hydraulic system in place of mechanical anti-roll bars. A simulated V8 soundtrack is available, with an option to switch it off. The GT 63 weighs 2,695 kg.

US pricing has not been announced, and the first cars are due at dealers in summer 2027. Its key rival will be Porsche's Cayenne Turbo Electric, and South Florida buyers should see both in showrooms in time.
