Porsche Exits Bugatti Rimac as Investor Deal Closes
A HOF Capital-led consortium has completed its purchase of Porsche's stakes, with leadership changes following at Bugatti.
A consortium led by HOF Capital has completed its acquisition of Porsche's holdings in Bugatti Rimac and Rimac Group, closing a deal first announced in April. Porsche had owned 45 percent of Bugatti Rimac, the joint venture formed in 2021, and 21 percent of Rimac Group. BlueFive Capital is the consortium's largest investor, joined by institutional backers from the US and Europe. The price was not disclosed.
Rimac Group remains the 55 percent majority owner of Bugatti Rimac, so control of the Molsheim marque stays with the Croatian group.
The close comes with a reshuffle at the top. Christophe Piochon steps down as president of Bugatti Automobiles and chief operating officer of Bugatti Rimac, and Mate Rimac, already chief executive of Bugatti Rimac, takes on the Bugatti presidency. Marko Brkljacic, previously COO of Rimac Technology, is due to become Bugatti Rimac's COO, while Bugatti managing director Hendrik Malinowski is set to become chief commercial officer. Further changes are expected.
Next on the agenda are the opening of the new La Manufacture production facility in Molsheim and the final stage of Tourbillon testing, milestones every Tourbillon customer will be watching.
