Bentley revealed the Torcal in London on 23 September, its first fully electric car and its fourth model line. A low four-door SUV just five metres long, it is the shortest four-door in the current range, and it is designed, engineered and built in Crewe alongside the company's combustion and hybrid models.

Two versions launch. The core car has 821 PS and 1,194 Nm, reaching 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and 155 mph. The sportier S delivers up to 888 PS and 1,350 Nm with launch control, cutting 0-60 mph to 2.8 seconds and topping out at 162 mph. A 113 kWh, 800-volt battery gives up to 375 miles of WLTP range, and 400 kW charging can add 100 miles in about seven minutes.

Bentley's first fully active suspension removes the need for anti-roll bars, and all-wheel steering is standard. Inside, highlights include massaging seats, a first power-folding three-person rear bench, a switchable-glass sunroof, a 100 percent Merino wool fabric and an optional 28-speaker Naim system. There is also a synthesised soundtrack recorded with real instruments.

Pricing has not yet been announced, but the Torcal gives Bentley loyalists their first electric option.
