Rimac Technology Takes Hypercar Batteries into AI Data Centres
A partnership with Dubai's ECOBLOX will put Rimac battery modules inside modular data centres, with a demonstrator due in November.
Rimac Technology, the engineering business behind much of the hypercar world's electrification, is applying its battery expertise to artificial intelligence. The Croatian company has signed a joint development agreement with ECOBLOX, a Dubai-based AI compute infrastructure specialist, to create a modular data centre solution.
The division of labour is straightforward. Rimac contributes its UNI battery modules, battery management system and power electronics, while ECOBLOX supplies the data centre architecture, design and integration. The resulting units combine power conversion, backup power, precision cooling and computing hardware in a single modular footprint, targeting 400- and 800-volt power designs for AI clusters. The battery system streams live telemetry into ECOBLOX's monitoring software, and the aim is to reduce dependence on constrained power grids.
A completed unit is scheduled for installation at the Rimac Campus near Zagreb in November 2026, serving as a live demonstrator for customers and partners. No capacity figures or pricing have been released.
Rimac Technology, a Tier 1 supplier with more than 1,000 employees, also works with sister company Bugatti Rimac on the Tourbillon. The move shows how high-performance automotive engineering can find lucrative new markets beyond the car itself.
